The Ladies

It has to be said that the seventeenth century was generally lacking in equality between the sexes, and when in character, in front of a paying public, our ladies serve the needs of the regiment in lots of different ways.

Its not a reflection of our own values, and when the public have gone, we are quickly brought right up to date!

We have ladies that are the wives of gentlemen - the officers of the regiment, we have ladies who are their servants, we have ladies who are soldiers wives and we even have Ladies of dubious character, and ladies down on their luck that follow the army because they have no other choice. Its all great fun, and is seen as part of the whole life of a regiment on campaign in the seventeenth century. We all respect what everyone brings to the group and support everyone in their given roles as much as we can, incorporating cameos roles for willing members into camp life.

We also have a group of Ladies collectively known as the Baggage who follow the troops onto the battlefield, offering support and water to the troops involved in fighting the battles. All of the fighting members of the regiment are extremely grateful for these ladies putting themselves in harms way to look after them, and to keep them watered through a hot battle.
