The Baggage & Camp Master takes on the duties of representing the views of the members of the regiment of all ages that take part in re-enactments in a non-combatant role, and also the members of the regiment that choose not to participate on the battlefield. The position is open to members of the Sealed Knot, Colonel Robert Hammond’s Regiment, and must be over 18 years of age. Those represented by the Baggage & Camp Master are:
The Camp & Baggage Master will publish a quarterly list of events that they are organising for publication in England’s Birthright, our regimental newsletter.
- All baggage train members – including all adults and children, all members of the regiment that camp on the Living History camp site in a non-combatant role
- All members of the regiment under the age of sixteen years
- All non-combatant members of the regiment that camp on the ‘Plastic’ camp site
- The Role of the Baggage & Camp Master shall include supporting the following activities in Hammond’s Regiment:
- This position shall be a voice for those that do not engage in combat roles in the regiment. It shall be a role that ensures that all members of the regiment feel engaged and involved.
- The Baggage & Camp Master will act as a liaison between Living History & Plastic camps in ensuring that all members of the regiment are informed of events and venues, and the Baggage & Camp Master will work closely with the Social Secretary to ensure that there is a fair distribution of events between the two camps.
- The Baggage & Camp Master will work closely with the Quartermaster, and other members of the regiment arranging events and displays for the Regiment to ensure that events are well publicised, supplied with the appropriate equipment and are well attended.
- To arrange when the regimental tent is going to be required and to organise its delivery, erection, fitting out (lights & generator) and putting it away at the end of the weekend.
